Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Creating the Base

With your first color, chain 30 (or the number needed to wrap comfortably around your phone's width with a little ease).

Without twisting your chain, slip stitch into the very first chain to form a ring. You will work the rest of this section in a continuous spiral without joining or turning.

Repeat Round 3 until the cozy is about half an inch shorter than your phone. If you are making this for a very short phone, you may only need to work up to Round 2.

Step 4: Adding the Border and Button Loop

Border Round 1: Chain 1 (does not count as a stitch). Work 1 single crochet in each stitch around, plus 1 single crochet in the same space as your starting chain 1. Slip stitch to the first single crochet to join.

Border Round 2: Repeat Border Round 1 once more. Fasten off.

Button Loop: Locate the exact top center of the back of your cozy. Join your yarn with a slip stitch at this point, chain 17, and slip stitch back into the exact same stitch to form a loop. Fasten off.

Tie the two yarn tails together securely. Thread your tapestry needle and weave the ends carefully through the inner layer of the ribbed section so they do not show on the outside. Once you reach the solid bottom section, weave them in thoroughly.

Sew your 3/4-inch wooden button to the front of the cozy, aligning it with your button loop.
